Yokai Ink Studio LLC
Ready for your next bit of bodywork? Contact us for a consultation!
Before you make an appointment, I require an in person consultation. This allows for me to talk face-to-face with my clients to better understand their design, take measurements and pictures of the area being tattooed, and allows me to assess the tattoo area (I need to see the texture and condition of the tattoo site to make sure it will allow for best results).
Please fill out our consultation form via one of the two links above: there will be one for new clients and another for returning clients.
***Reminder: We are currently booked out 6 months in advance, so please understand that we will not be able to accommodate requests for appointments within a short period of time. Thank you for your patience!***
Ash is the one-woman army behind Yokai Ink Studio. Boasting 13+ years in graphic design and 3+ years professionally applying ink to skin.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you my have!
People who get tattoos are awesome! Unafraid to show their true colors and be their most authentic self! I love my job, I get to connect with people who are not only down to earth, but are some of the most enduring and inspiring people I’ve had the pleasure of putting ink on. The best part of my job is collaborating with my clients to make them something unique- tattoos to wear with love for a lifetime.
As the owner and primary artist of Yokai Ink Studio, I want to offer my clients an intimate and stress-less environment; Judgment free and as comfortable as possible. I pride myself on the artistic skills I’ve developed over the past 12 years in graphic design and illustrative art, as well as three years professionally inking individuals. I am certified in handling Blood Bourne Pathogens and take cleanliness incredibly seriously.
My job is to make your vision a reality: to mend wounds, to engrave nostalgia into the very fiber of a person, to create enduring pieces that are cherished and meaningful. A tattoo is a conversation with love ones lost, it’s a snapshot of euphoric memories, a personal mantra, a friend in lonely places. Tattoos offer a visual representation of your story, the unseen things brought into reality. I want only to be that bridge. To bring your ideas into this physical world, making your story something you can be proud of.
Our shop minimum is $60.00 and our hourly rate is $120.00 an hour. By having a consultation I can give an accurate estimate to the price of your tattoo. If you're working with a budget please let me know beforehand so I can see what I can do to accommodate that! To get the most accurate quote, have a reference picture or Pinterest board and an approximate size in inches that you would like to get. Saying you want something "smallish" or "medium-sized" is relative and is more helpful when I have a size in inches.
First I require an in person consultation. This allows for me to see the site where you want to receive the tattoo. I have to see if the area is suitable for what you're looking for. It also allows me to take a picture of the area. This allows me to design your tattoo with the flow of your existing anatomy. THIS IS CRUCIAL FOR ALL COVER-UPS! Shoot me an email to set up a consultation.
After that, I will take a $60.00 non-refundable deposit to secure your appointment on the schedule. The $60.00 will come off the price of the tattoo. For multi-session tattoos, we will carry the deposit over and it will come off of your last session.
About a week to a couple of days before your appointment I will be reaching out to confirm your appointment via emaill. If there is no confirmation made 24 hours before your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule.
No call/ no shows will have their deposit forfeit.
I adore children! But because I love kids, you cannot bring them to the studio. Due to the nature of tattoos: exposure to plasma, needles, biohazard waste and harsh cleaning chemicals, I do not allow children in my studio space. We are doing PERMANENT things to your person, and limiting distractions is imperative.
I prefer card! I do not carry cash or change as it is a security risk for myself, but if you feel like tipping in cash (which is very much appreciated, but not expected) I would ask that you plan to have exact change.
I offer my clients ONE free touch up (on the tattoo I preformed on them) within 90 days of their appointment. You will have to schedule this, I do not do touch ups on a walk-in basis. If however the tattoo needs to be touched up due to negligence, lack of proper aftercare, or past the 90 day free period it will be at the client's expense.
If you have existing work, from another artist that needs touching up, this is called a rework. It's also imperative that you come in for an in person consultation so I can assess what can be done and get on the same page as my client. A rework will either be priced out or completed at the hourly rate.
Yes. I am not comfortable putting ink in areas that can possibly be dangerous or have a tendency to not hold ink well. Eyelids, inner lips, palms, the sides of fingers, the soles of feet, and certain areas underneath your underwear line. Also any symbols or themes that are incensed by hate. As a POC in the LGBTQ+ community, marking someone permanently is something I do not take lightly, and will not contribute to something I am uncomfortable with.
The short answer is yes. They're not very comfortable. The best comparison I've gathered over the years is that it feels like a cat scratch on a sunburn. It's different person to person. Pain tolerances vary spot-to-spot and every individual is different. If you'd like to use a lidocaine cream beforehand, PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR SPECIFICS.
As of right now, no. Not with Covid-19 still being highly communicable. I am appointment only until further notice. Please wear a mask unless fully vaccinated.
Deposits are good for up to one year of putting down your deposit. The deposit will come off the price of your tattoo. If you cancel or fail to show up to your appointment, you will forfeit your deposit. You will need to put down another deposit to get back on the schedule if this is the case. My shop maintains a no-refund policy. If you need to reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment. As the sole owner, I foot the bill for rent, supplies, taxes, etc. I have no 401k or benefits. If you do not show up, I don't get paid. I am eternally grateful for those who sympathize and understand this!
Yes! If you have the ashes of the dearly departed loved one, I can mix some of the ash into the pigment of your tattoo. Make sure you bring a small amount (just a pinch or so) that is free of larger chunks and has a powdery consistency.
Yes! Only if you use one of these two brands: Zensa or Hush.
These are the two brands I have found don't alter the texture or consistency of your skin and won't adversely affect your tattoo. Other brands have a tendency to make the area of skin it's applied to either swell up, or make the skin "gummy" to where the skin sticks to the needle upon the needle exiting the skin. Topical lidocaine products can also make the area temporarily lighter, this can cause discoloration, uneven linework, and a host of other complications.
You must also use the lidocaine cream PROPERLY! If you show up to your appointment with a bottle of product, and it hasn't been already applied to your skin, you've pushed your appointment back at least an hour!
The best way to use lidocaine cream is to take a hot shower before application and open up the pores in your skin. Then dry off, liberally apply a thick layer on the site of where your tattoo will be to allow the product to absorb into your skin. Plastic wrap the area to further aid absorption and to insure the product doesn't get everywhere. You have to wear the lidocaine for at least a half hour to an hour BEFORE your appointment to ensure maximum efficacy. You will then come into the studio, still saran-wrapped, and I will wipe the product off to insure maximum potency.
My preferred form of contact is through the website. There will be a section for new and returning clients. My husband will be sure to contact you by email as promptly as possible with as much information as he can give you! From there we can set up a consultation and we can discuss your upcoming tattoo plans!
